New Workflows Now Available In VxBlock Central

As Of Jan 2020- VxBlock Central documentation has been updated to support new and enhanced VxBlock Central workflows.

New workflows

  • Provision ESXi cluster – PowerMAX/VMAX – This workflow provisions a new cluster of hosts, installs ESXi, and adds the newly created cluster to the VMware vCenter database. This workflow also provisions storage capacity to the newly provisioned cluster.
  • Remove ESXI host from production cluster – This workflow helps you remove an existing ESXi host from the production cluster and place the host in maintenance mode.
  • Provision ESXi cluster – PowerMAX/VMAX – This workflow provisions a new cluster of hosts, installs ESXi, and adds the newly created cluster to the VMware vCenter database. This workflow also provisions storage capacity to the newly provisioned cluster.
  • Create new volume/LUN and attach RDM disks to VM – This workflow creates new storage volumes or LUNs and adds them to the selected storage group. After adding the storage volumes or LUNs, the workflow adds raw device mapping (RDM) to the selected virtual machine (VM).
  • Create a new LUN and datastore and move VMs to new datastore for Dell EMC Unity, Dell EMC Unity XT, and XtremIO – This workflow creates a new storage volume and VMFS datastore and allows you to migrate one or more virtual machines to the newly created datastore using vMotion. You can select Compute vMotion, Storage vMotion, or Compute and Storage vMotion.

All existing workflows are tested and validated to work with PowerMax 5978.444.

Enhanced workflows

  • Provision host (bare metal) – PowerMax/VMAX/Dell EMC Unity/XtremIO – This workflow helps you provision the compute capacity for bare metal Cisco UCS B-series blade servers in your Converged System using the Boot LUN from the storage array.
